So, Wednesday three storm systems decided to pay a visit to our Little patch of grass. No big deal, grab the rain gear for the camera, turn the scanner all the way up, put on a slicker and chase the clouds.
Dayside photogs stayed busy following blips on the scanner and doppler while I looked out my back window in between naps to see which tree was going to give in to the wind and come crashing in through the roof of my house. Luckily, my maples decided not to invade my residence as of yet. My pine tree, on the other hand, was left with one side bare after a large branch broke from the wieght of water and force of wind it had to endure. I had to stop at my sisters house before going into work and found her road flooded over. Being the devoted news employee that I am I snapped a few photos with my cell and sent them to the station for the Weather Guessers to use if they wish.

I'm fairly old school...I don't like using my cell pics for on-air stuff, but I also understand that if this all you can get than it is better than nothing. We used these pics and some stuff viewers sent in (which I support doing because it gives the viewer a sense of "belonging" or being a part of the news agency).

While everyone got the storm footage during the day, it became my duty to get the cleanup that night. No complaints from me, it gave me something to do. I was able to et some fire departments working early into the morning clearing roadways of debris. A resident found his vehicle had become the victim of a tree bashing. One lady was stuck in her house for a couple of hours while crews removed a tree and electric lines from her front porch. Luckily, noone was injured in our market. We did have a report of a person being swept away in a flooded creek. Emergency crews never found any evidence of anyone falling victim to the creek, though they had two matching reports of the event. Probably some sick joke someone thought to play on the poor folks near the creek.
